4 Tips for all men who want to stay looking young

There comes a time in every man’s life where they look in the mirror and start to think – I’m looking old. Don’t worry, everybody has that moment, yet it comes at different ages and different stages depending on your lifestyle choices. But regardless of what stage this occurs, there is a simple premise that often enters the mind, and that is what you can do to start looking a little healthier and ideally – a little younger.

It’s just a fact of life that as we age, our hair can start to turn grey, we put on belly fat quicker than before, extra wrinkles make their way onto the face, and much more. All of this can be a bit upsetting for males that are approaching middle age or even the twilight stage in life, so we wanted to help! In this post, you can view certain tips and tricks to use today that can help slow the signs of aging but remember, feeling young is a matter of attitude and mindset!

Can I look younger than my age?

Yes you can and it’s all about attitude. Behind a healthy body is a healthy mind! A good diet and exercise is important but if you walk around feeling really old, tired and unhappy in general then you will look a lot older than your age. With the right, positive, attitude you automatically cut off some years and people react to your energy and happy spirit regardless of your age.

1. Drink enough water

As simple as this may seem on the surface, hardly any of us manage to drink enough water throughout the day. With adult males, the recommended daily intake is around 2 liters per day, or more if you are highly active. Yet there is some science behind this too. Health experts believe that a lack of water intake can lead to bad skin, early signs of aging, and even poor health if this habit is not changed. However, when you start to hit your intake targets for water, your skin will improve, your eyes may start to look brighter, and you will generally feel better overall.

And after all, how hard is it really to simply drink water throughout the day?

3. Exercise for at least 1 hour per day

This one is obvious, yet so many men that reach a certain age fail to hit the mark on this one. Of course, failing to exercise can lead to weight loss, health problems, and perhaps worse of all, mental health problems such as depression. Not only is exercising good for the mind, but it is also good for the body as it can help to reduce cholesterol, decrease body fat, and you may find that you feel sharper in general as a result of improving your fitness levels.

Now, this 1-hour of exercise can be anything. Walks and meditation are wonderful! Just make sure you do something that you enjoy otherwise you will likely not stick to it. For example, if you love playing soccer, it makes no sense to start slugging things out on a treadmill every day. Just get yourself involved in a league or a practice team to exercise and have some fun!

2. Follow the Mediterranean diet

Again, this may seem overly simple, but it can have an immense difference in your life. In today’s busy world, many men (and women) just do not get the right nutrition. This is because many of us have less time to prepare healthy meals, to have a nutritious breakfast in the morning, or make a healthy smoothie for the day. It’s just too easy and more convenient to look for the nearest fast-food chain to eat, get back to work, pick up the kids, or whatever your daily life entails.

But with that said, changes can still be made. Ideally, if you have time to pre-prepare meals for the week, we’d encourage you to do so. But failing that, you can still try to reduce carbs, increase protein intake, and of course, remove all of those comfort foods that aren’t bringing you anything but more belly fat! To make it easier, you don’t have to remember all of these dietary rules if you follow the Mediterranean diet. It’s actually less of a “diet” and more of a naturally healthy way of eating. It’s easy to follow and you can print out the “10 commandments of  the Mediterranean diet” found at Menhonor and you will not even feel you’re on a diet!

4. Take the time to relax

Last but not least, make sure that you take the time to unwind and relax. Life is pretty hectic these days, and this is displayed in our physical appearance. If you are constantly tired, you can get unwanted bags under the eyes. If you are constantly stressed, your hair might start to turn, and your heart can even suffer too. Therefore it is super important to actually relax during the week, which can involve different things for different people.

You might want to take a massage, whereas another guy might find peace and relaxation out on the golf course. Whatever works for you, make sure that you dedicate a time slot (or a few) during the week to de-stress and relax. Trust us – you will see the physical and mental improvements before you know it!
